Saturday craft clean up

Today was a stunning sunny day in melbourne! thank-you weather gods!! we are just hanging onto those last few threads of sunny weather!
My focus today was a super tidy up, the craft explosion has taken over the house in recent weeks...and yes i am going to share a messy snapshot below to prove that i am still human! this crafty lady may well work fulltime and be very driven but i have waned on the domestics of late...bless my fiancee and his calm nerves and fantastic cooking skills!
Also today I realised that it was now MARCH and the christmas tree should probably come down...ha ha
and of course another bunny creation below, I am heading to bed early tonight,,,zzzzzzz out

craft taking over the dining table/house...
my hand made christmas tree heads outside to be dismantled (every year i create a new one, this year i spray painted a dead branch silver and decorated it)

a couple of my handmade chrissy deco's get packed away for next year
craft...
1) sketch a bunny
2)cut out strips of interesting paper
3) glue that paper onto a separate cardboard backing to the mount board you wish to attach it too
4) once the glue is dry, trace your original sketch over the top and cut it out

wots of wabbies

Tonight I have used a variety of old magazines and scrap book card to cut out bunnies for a collage.
Ive seen this layout done in homewares stores but usually with butterfly cut outs.
I think it looks quite pretty, perfect for a babies room wall...

the finished product
i did initially consider putting this vintage lady pic watching over the bunnies, but i decided to leave it simple, just with the bunnies

March 1-Day 60

The rabbit theme continues...

The other day I covered a small canvas with some of the 1930's french fashion magazine and left it to dry. I didn't have plans for what would go on it next, but today's collage has worked really well on the newspaper backed canvas. As you can see below it is still wet and will still need a few more coats of varnish.

I made sure the paper covered the edges of the canvas also

varnish
I will post more pics when the varnish layers are dry

Crafty trash... or Trashy craft?

Tonight I have challenged myself to reinvent my rubbish. I was about to take my recycling up to the recycling bin after dinner when I had an idea, I hadn't yet thought of what craft project I was going to make and I had a big pile of bottles and boxes and plastic for the recycling... what could I do with it??

Its really hard when faced with the challenge because you brain seems to just go... "hmmm what could I do with it? put it in the bin sounds like a good idea!"

But I persevered... and lets just say its not my finest craft moment... but i did start with trash and manage to make some things.

my recycling
I flattened and cut up the cardboard boxes
traced neat rectangles on the plain side
glued these sections onto some pages out of my favourite magazine "Frankie"

walah gift tags

next those plastic bottles, plastic containers and tin
hmmm seedling planters?
pretty and crafty seedling planters

The final products altogether
and I still have more recycling left over...
but i think thats headed for the bin...

Day 53- fashion collage

Today I spent most of the day in bed as I wasnt well, this afternoon I have picked up and sat in the afternoon sun in my lounge room making this collage.
I think it turned out really cute, I have used pics from old 1930's fashion magazines.
Big shout out to New Zealand and friends there, I hope you are all okay after the earthquake.

Valentines Day

Today is Valentines Day and keeping with the week's theme I have made a wreath from vines in the backyard. I then threaded some classy fake flowers into the wreath (I figure they are going to last longer!)
and I have used this wreath as the feature for my fiancee and my table setting...
Its been five years and we both agree this valentines is the best yet!
cheers to another five babe xxoo

3rd of feb-day 34

Tonight I have finished off the collage for the commission and it is set aside drying (pics below).
I had to fit it onto A3 for the frame so it is slightly more cropped than yesterday's pic. I have asked for the person who is buying it to send me a photo once she puts it in the frame so I will add this once I have received it.

2nd of feb-Day 33

Tonight I have been working on the collage commission.
The client saw my collage from day 12 and wanted something similar for a friends wedding gift, the brief was
-rustic colours, burnt oranges, greens etc
-similar to design/style to the day 12 collage

I have cut it all out this evening and placed it together, tomorrow night I will actually glue it all down. Below are the "in progress" shots.
I will put the final picture up tomorrow.

-The roses I have hand sketched onto orange cardboard,
the old magazine cuttings are from a 1910 fashion magazine that I purchased in paris...
