Day 284-a break away from the reno

Tonight I have steered away from the bedroom reno creations and whipped up a few brooches (sorry its a little hard to do the reno's after work each day!)

I cut out some pictures out of Frankie magazine and glued them onto these little scrapbooking shapes, then i added a layer of vanish and have left them to dry overnight.

Day 228-another home sick & another brooch

I spent the day at home again, not feeling the best

at one point I was on the lounge, drinking a cup of tea, when I realised I was not alone...
this is who was outside...
(they are slightly scarey in groups)
okay back to craft, this time using green coloured fabric scraps and a vintage brooch in the middle to top it off

I popped down the road to get a few groceries towards the end of the day, I thought i'd wear the green brooch to make me feel abit more perky (with no make-up, no hairdo and "been in bed for two days" brain)
Anyways, the lady behind the counter at the servo asked me what I had won? (referring to my brooch)
I replied "on no havent won anything, apart from a cold, as for the brooch I made it myself"
she replies "oh I thought you might be a school teacher and that your students had made you a brooch for being their favourite"
YEP, that's just great! I have spent 228 days making craft and it still looks like a school kid made it.... to the UN-trained eye... love my life!

Day 227-sick and tired

Today I have spent the day in bed sick... booooo :(
Luckily I pre-made this fabric brooch below on the weekend to save the day!

pattern pieces cut out of newspaper
 a variety of red fabrics
hand stitch the fabrics together and then cut x2 black felt circles for the backing (using 2 layers makes it stronger) and glue gun the brooch back and label to the felt...
I pulled apart an old clip on earring and glued that to the centre to finish
I love it! red is my favourite colour! and big jewellery is the best!

back to bed with a sore head for me

Day 148-Winter blues week

Today has been a rainy ol saturday, perfect day for lots of cups of tea and crafting up a storm!
Despite my best of intentions of getting a few craft projects done today, i have completed one and its already 3.45pm! I did manage to sketch a few ideas for the week, but when you are making something from scratch which you have not made before it always takes five times as long (pattern making, trial and error and the worst... "unpicking" agh i shudder when i here that word).
The theme for this week is going to be the "winter blues", all this rainy gloomy weather does take its toll on the soul... It is good to sit inside and reflect, drink lots of tea... but i miss the sunlight... So i am hoping a range of bright blue wintery crafts will perk me up.
Today I have made a reversable neck cuff/head band, its a replacement for the scarf, something you can just slip over your head to keep your neck warm. I am really happy with how this worked out and might make a few of these in varying colours this week, see the process below...

fabric
i used the rolled hem function on my super new brother overlocker to finish the edges of on these circles
walah, neck cuff, reversable with detachable flower brooch
first option

its basically a bagged out cylinder (and its stretchy fabric) so you just pull it off an on over your head
Option 2, wear it as a large headband (with or without the detachable flower brooch)
or take the brooch off and wear it on your outfit as a normal brooch would be worn
