Day 357-Giant heads

I still have lots of MDF left over from making the bedhead, so tonight I decided to make some "giant MR and MRS" heads and turn them into blackboards...

I started by sketching the shapes in chalk...

 I was much better at the female head sketch, I actually got andee to help me with the male head sketch

(and then stuck a hat on him because he looked like an android)

 next to the power tools! I love using power tools!!! very empowering!

 then base coat

 Tomorrow I will paint that blackboard paint (that is enough for one night, plus there is 2 craft items here, so I figure i can split it over two days).  These really are giant heads, see my feet below...

I thought they might look cool over our bedhead? perhaps we can write each other messages of LOVE...or HATE (the latter rarely happens luckily!!)

its 9pm here and we are off to the shopping centre for some last minute "late night christmas shopping"

we have managed to avoid it for this long (and most of my pressies and handmade OF COURSE!)

but there are always a few little bits and pieces left to get.

Day 256-Blackboard-mania

Today I have drilled the holes in my blackboard silhouettes and added the screws so that I can hang them on the wall. See the process below...

I popped some of the blackboards up on the picture wall to take a pic!

 yay! I think they look cool! All ready for my christmas craft stall!

Day 251-its mac time

Today my shiny new mac book pro arrived in the post! I love the smell of new technology... (no really it smells nice)

Day 250-GUESS WHAT!

I know its a big surprise!!

but I have to stock pile on making for my craft stall!

 I really like the speech bubbles! I think you could have a few of them on a feature wall, would be fun for a share house with everyone adding their quotes.

Day 249-Apple a day...

Hello friendly crafters!
Tonight I am featuring another of my blackboard silhouettes, this time an apple (with a bite taken).
I am excited because I just ordered my new apple mac pro laptop today (after my 6 yr old mac book died last night!)

I think it would work well in a country style kitchen (for a shopping list)

Day 244 & 245

Last night I somehow forgot to post my craft photo! I had finished the project and taken the photo and then for the first time I FORGOT to post it!
Anyways its all good today I will post both yesterday and today's craft.

Day 243-I am Batty!

Another of my handmade silhouette blackboard's,

 I can relate to this little dude!

 The final touch I need to add is to attach a hook on the back so he can hang on the wall

Day 242-What a hoot!

Hello friendly crafty folks!

This week I am featuring a range of handmade blackboards which i whipped up with mdf, an electric jigsaw and some blackboard paint!

In the process of cutting

Day 240- Black cat

Finally the cat is ready for the blackboard paint

I have done a few layers of paint to ensure good coverage

you are not supposed to draw on the chalkboard paint for 24 hrs after drying (because the paint needs to harden) so i just lightly drew some whiskers for effect!

Day 238-I heart power tools

I have had a very productive day today which involved power tools and MDF

 I had this idea to make some mini blackboards in the shape of animal silhouette's.

I started by saving some silhouette shapes off the internet and then re-sizing them in illustrator.

 then tracing around the silhouette onto the mdf

 I then secured the mdf to the table with clamps

 then carefully using the electric jig saw cut around the shape (avoiding my hand, the table and the electrical lead!)

 yay step one complete! ready for the primer coat, followed by the blackboard paint and

finally attaching a hook to hang from the wall! check in tomorrow for progress...
