Day 297-Fabric bedhead cover step 2

Step 2 for the covered bedhead is now live to watch on you tube below...

finished the cutting
laid out the 4 layers of foam which I purchased from Resource Rescue
traced and cut around the foam (it was easy enough to cut thru with normal scissors)
I then joined the two pieces together by adding an overlapping piece of mdf on the back. I have used liquid nails to join this and then placed a heavy weight on top (make sure to leave it to dry for 48hrs before moving it again)
"this is now drying INSIDE my house on the DINING table....
looks like tv's dinner's for the next few nights"

Day 293-upcycle your old shoes!

I have been wanting to have a go at revamping some old shoes for awhile.
Tonight is my first attempt....

step 1) a pair of old shoes
I used the glue gun in one spot to hold the ribbon in place to start wrapping the front t-bar strap
next I starting glue gunning some cotton lace edging around the shoe opening creating a ruffle effect
then the front I covered with some polka dot fabric
the back I glued down some red felt cut to size,
next I covered over all the edges and joins with the wide striped ribbon
and lastly added a gold ribbon embellishment and a covered button
SUPER DUPER SHOE MAKEOVER!!
what do you think of the "shoe make-over" transformation??
eat your heart our alice in wonderland!

Day 290-Spring fling!

In the spirit leading up to the melbourne cup I will be featuring some fun fascinators!

I pulled out a few boxes of supplies to get inspired... but then felt overwhelmed by the choice! I have so many random bits and bobs its hard to know where to start.......
hmmmm
Yes the picture above is a joke!

below is the process for my first fascinator of the season

I made a polka dot flower with fabric
then added a layer of tulle, some ribbon a button and some lace
da daaarrr!
All ready!! (aside from the fact that I've never been to melbourne cup... or liked the races) any excuse to craft!
and I do love an OTT headpiece!

Day 285-Preparing for my market stall...

Tonight I have been organising decorations for my stall this weekend at the "Stringybark Sustainability Festival" in Rowville. If you are in Melbourne and have time to drop in I'd love to have a chat! Its open Saturday and Sunday 10-5.
The stall is to promote my "Upcycle your wardrobe" workshop (starting October 31st).

Okay back to craft! I thought it would be super cool to make some GIANT paper dolls with cut out outfits to display on the walls near my stall

I found some pics on google images of "Doris Day" paper dolls from 1955. I enlarged these images in Illustrator and printed them onto A3 pages (tiling the whole image). Next I had to cut all the edges and carefully line up the joins before sticky taping them together.
The final height of the cutouts are about 1.5metres
Then I used my homemade black board speech bubbles to convey my message
I love them! such a shame the paper tears so easily... this would make for awesome wall paper in a vintage clothing store! Especially in the change room!
