Day 261-Home safe and sound

After a weekend away we have flown back into melbourne safe and sound... but very tired (and not looking forward to work tomorrow!) okay one more chrissy craft! and then i better get my creative juices flowing for something different tomorrow night, craft out....zzzzzz snore out xxoo

Today we flew up to newcastle for a weekend with the folks.

Tonight's craft is another chrissy decoration for my craft stall later this year.

This one is a cute little birdy,

I decided to make some legs with pipe cleaners

 with 3 little spikes for the feet

Day 258-christmas crafts

Hello crafty folks! You will have to bare with me the next few days as I post a few christmas decorations. I am flying to Newcastle tomorrow for my sister's engagement party so I had to pre make the weekends worth tonight.

Day 257-Exciting News!

Happy wednesday fellow crafters!

I have exciting news here at the"365 days of craft" headquarters!

I am going to be hosting a workshop called "upcycle your wardrobe"

the concept of the workshop is to bring along bags of your old clothes to learn ways to

snip, stitch, decorate and recreate those old items to give them a new life!

Today's craft is my flyer below, which outlines all the details of the workshop.

Day 256-Blackboard-mania

Today I have drilled the holes in my blackboard silhouettes and added the screws so that I can hang them on the wall. See the process below...

Day 255-Guest blogger mondays!

Tonight's guest blogger is my lovely mum!

She recently decopaged a postage box for her sister and their family (as they were about to head off on the trip of a lifetime around europe). Mum had been collecting some little "travel safe" pressies and decided to get crafty and decorate the parcel!

she started with a postage box

  and some travel europe travel brochures

she also photo copied some photos of her sister and their family and then added these into the pictures

My aunty and the fam were in fits of laughter when they recieved the parcel in the post!

day 254-Coat standarama! a few screws loose and in need of some love

I am having a good run of fun projects after all those blackboards!!!
I purchased an old coat stand from the charity shop on saturday. The shape was good and I thought it had potential for a revamp.

it started like this, an old coat stand that had a few loose screws and needed some love (kinda like me)

this was my $15 bargin purchase

I tightened all the screws, wiped off the dust

and gave it a light sand.

Next I opened a can of "SUPER HIGH GLOSS red paint"

me out in the cold painting

it took me just over 2 hours to paint the first coat. 

painting with high gloss paint is a BITCH! its all sticky (like painting with nail polish!)

i then moved it inside to dry (and proceeded to stink out the house!)

 love the high gloss finish!

 yay! another fun project from the crazy 365 house!

Day 253-Rug rats

Today I have a very exciting project to share!
Yesterday I went to visit my favourite recycle shop resource rescue in Bayswater. Resource Rescue gathers  industrial off cuts and waste from companies around Melbourne and sells them for art and craft projects. I purchased some large upholstery textile books (see in the pic below) I wasn't sure what I would make with them, but took them home, pulled the books apart and started playing.

because all the swatches were already in squares I started placing them together in patterns to create perhaps a rug? or maybe a patchwork quilt... or possibly just creating a large piece of fabric which could be used to cover a couch.

I tried a few different layouts...

and then started joining them together (with my Brother overlocker)

the final product turned out like this

 i love the red tones all mixed together!

i also popped it on the couch to have a look at what it may look like if i covered the whole couch with it

what do you think?

overall I think its a very exciting project! 

I spent $10 on an old textile sample book and created this amazing rug (and i still have more squares to play with)

Day 252-Getting back to nature with some ice craft

I was sitting on the couch today sipping a cup of tea, when the sky opened up and started to hail. Literally out of the blue, it wasn't even raining before that! I watched as the back deck and garden turned white and was reminded of one of my favourite artists Andy Goldsworthy
If you love art and sculpture I highly recommend looking at some of his work (there are a few good documentaries out about him also).

Andy Goldsworthy is a brilliant British artist who collaborates with nature to make his creations. Besides England and Scotland, his work has been created at the North Pole, in Japan, the Australian Outback, in the U.S. and many others

Goldsworthy regards his creations as transient, or ephemeral. He photographs each piece once right after he makes it. His goal is to understand nature by directly participating in nature as intimately as he can. He generally works with whatever comes to hand: twigs, leaves, stones, snow and ice, reeds and thorns. 

So taking a "leaf" out of his book, I threw on my boots and went out to play in the hail...

Day 251-its mac time

Today my shiny new mac book pro arrived in the post! I love the smell of new technology... (no really it smells nice)

Day 250-GUESS WHAT!

I know its a big surprise!!

but I have to stock pile on making for my craft stall!

 I really like the speech bubbles! I think you could have a few of them on a feature wall, would be fun for a share house with everyone adding their quotes.

Day 249-Apple a day...

Hello friendly crafters!
Tonight I am featuring another of my blackboard silhouettes, this time an apple (with a bite taken).
I am excited because I just ordered my new apple mac pro laptop today (after my 6 yr old mac book died last night!)

I think it would work well in a country style kitchen (for a shopping list)
