Day 22-large patchwork shoulder bag and a mini photoshoot

Evening crafters! its another beautiful hot sunny melbourne day (shhh i cant say it too loud it will jinx me).
Today's craft is a large patchwork shoulder bag. The actual bag is fairly simple to sew, but the hand sewn patches on the front take a long time! so this was "completed" today but has probably been on the go for a month (obviously just now and then when i get a chance). These are the kind of items which are very hard to price, friends and family see them and love them and will often suggest I make these to sell... but who will pay the price for so much hand sewing time? I am sure many artists and crafters out there will understand this. see pics below...

On another note friends of ours popped over for dinner last night with their gorgeous little girl Skye (who is almost a size 3) and she was more than willing to model my "upcycled" t-shirt dresses! In fact she didnt want to take the "minnie" one off! see pics below...

Day 21-leather and upcycled scarf

Today I have revamped a vintage scarf by adding a leather neck piece. The leather was cut from the same old vintage jacket which i cut up to make the heart brooches earlier in the month.
See pics below, I will add this to my etsy store tomorrow!

Day 20-elephant butterfly brooch delight

Today has been another beautiful sunny day in Melbourne! We even had a dip in the neighbours pool after work!
My craft of today is something I started working on last night.
A while back I bought a few packets of these christmas scrap-booking "thing-ees" that were in the bargin bin at spotlight, I thought they might come in handy for making some brooches and now they have!
-First I cut out some pics from magazines which i liked
-then traced around the scrapbooking shapes onto the pictures
-cut these out (slightly smaller than the traced shape so the silver edge would show)
-glue the pics in place
-paint a few layers of high gloss varnish over the top
-leave to dry overnight
-superglue the brooch backs on the centre back
see pics below...

The scrapbook "thing-ees" (I dont really understand scrapbooking... )

Day 19-Mr Mo

The last two days I have been very organised (I actually pre-cut out the last 2 projects very late sunday night!) It was a relief to know what I was coming home to sew!
Tonight I was back to the creative challenge, I sat down to the dining table with bits and pieces everywhere and started to play and Mr Mo was born! see below...

Cutting out the Mo shape from felt
stitching to the white felt for extra thickness (makes it a little more rigid) and the large contrast stitches look good against the black.
attached some large chain

Day 16 trash & treasure disaster!

Today I held a market stall at the Melbourne Wantirna trash and treasure markets.
I have held a stall there previously, towards the end of last year. Its a great chance to get rid of old bits and pieces and usually make an extra couple hundred dollars.
Today was... not so successful... after getting up at 4.45am, setting up the stall in the rain, before the weather turned from drizzle to SIZZLE 30 degrees!! I got fried sunburnt! and the usual pay off reward of the early wake up (being the extra cash in my pocket) nope! after all market stall expenses were taken out I made a measly $50 dollars! phhh, thats the worst pay of my life! 8 hours work for $50 and sun burn to boot!
It seems the general public were not in the spending mood. People did however admire the presentation of my old jewellery. I had a big bag of old jewels that I no longer wore, so to present these in a better way I cut out brown cardboard strips and glued on cut little pics from "frankie" magazine. It did really jazz up some old pieces and lots of people commented on how well presented it was (although it seems not well enough! as they werent buying much).
Anyways "thems the breaks", I thought I'd share with you some pics of my trash jewellery presentation.
Wishing you all a great week ahead! happy crafting....
