Day 211-gardening, sanding and froggy prince charming

Today I spent the morning gardening, it was a great sunny winters day! I then spent the afternoon sanding an old chair that I am planning to re-stain and re-cover, it is going to take quite a few days to complete that project! So for today's craft I have made a simple felt finger puppet!

me using the electric sander, obviously using the "technical eyewear!"

click on the article twice below to make it big enough to read... cheers

Day 210-plate stack x2

This morning I spent about an hour trying to dry the "balloon doily" creation with my hair dryer... its still very wet and now sitting near the ducted heating vent. I think after it dries it is going to need another layer of something to keep it firm (plaster? lacquer? suggestions welcome??)

As for today's craft I have made another jewellery stand stack. After the success of the first one I went and raided a few op shops of plates and cups to make a few more!!

a growing collection of plates and cups
 jewel stand number 2
 they look great together
I think I am going to need a bigger dressing table soon.....

Day 209-giant balloons & wallpaper glue

Today I have started a very adventurous project requiring a GIANT balloon, two and a half litres of wall paper glue and a big bag of doilies....

x1 giant balloon from the local party supplies shop
and a huge doily collection!
I purchased two strengths of wall paper glue to do a test first ..... but I really dont have the patience for doing the trial.... so I just went for the super strength
mix, mix, mix glugy, glugy, glue, glue
masking tape the giant balloon to the floor
dip the doily into the glue
and apply to the balloon
 and another
 and another
sooooo what am I making?????
hopefully a large light shade (to hang from the ceiling)
I couldnt wait to have a little sneak preview, so I popped a lamp behind it whilst its drying and switched off the room lights, It looks great!!
I just really hope the balloon does not pop until it dries.... otherwise I will be left with a pile of wet gooey doilies...
It looks like a world globe of doilies
I really hope it dries hard enough to work....
I think this needs a good week near the heater, I will bring you an update next week

Day 206-Plate clock

Over the weekend when I was op shopping for my plates for my jewellery/cake stands I came across this gorgeous plate with a hole in the middle. I wasn't sure why the plate had been made with a hole in the middle... but I knew exactly what I was going to make with it!!!

I love the shape and design! it has bow peep on it

I googled the name on the back to see if that would help solve the mystery as to why it was made with a hole in the middle (and of course hoping on the off chance it was a super rare find and was worth squillions of cash) unfortunately it was not worth much, but I did solve the mystery............see the pic at the end of this post.....
I was given a bag full of clock mechanisms from my lovely neighbour to aid my craft shananagans! and have been waiting for the opportune moment to put them into action!
I simply call it "Plate clock"
it sits very nicely with the jewellery stand!

mystery solved... this is what I found on ebay under "burgess plate"
and that is why it has a hole.
I am a "craft detective" tonight!
