Day 272 - Power out = No craft.

Hello, Andee here posting from my phone. Unfortunately the storms have managed to knock our power out, so looks like Bron won't be able to post tonight. We're going to use it as an opportunity to have an early night and Bron will be back to post some more craft tomorrow! Goodnight and craft out.

Wednesday, raining, time for some leopard print to spice up the week!

I have copied the shape of one of my fav skirts (a stripey stretch number below)
and cut it out of some leopard stretch (from the swatch cards from resource rescue)
overlock side seams and then stitch the hem
 attach the waistband
love a bit of leopard!!
even had enough left over for a matching headband

Day 269-apple mac book pro cover

Tonight I have decided to be practical and get started on a padded sleeve for my new laptop.
I was planning to finish it tonight too, but I need to "sleep on it" (not literally on the laptop itself) I am just not sure if I want to make it a laptop sleeve with a velcro tab? or a satchel bag??
see the process so far below...

padded fabric from resource rescue
check the size of my laptop and cut
I thought it would be cute to cut the apple logo out of felt and stitch it on the front
I cut out a piece of red felt the same size and overlocked the edges together, that way the inside is nice a soft too (plus the red looks cool)
then I remembered I had a bag strap I had never used laying around and thought maybe I should make it into a satchel? instead of just a sleeve??
hmmm what do you think? I think its time for bed and I will decide tomorrow....

Day 268-puddings, glue and MDF

Today I slept in, read lots of a good book in the sun, drove to "bunnings" (a giant chain hardware store) and purchased some huge sheets of MDF for an exciting project I am planning next weekend....shhhh its a secret!
Then tonight headed out to dinner with friends and finally, "of course" made some craft...

 Tonight's craft, "the pudd"
I have almost glued last night's project all together (just the 2 ribbons at the top are pinned on)
 yay I love it!

Day 265-WOW 100 DAYS TO GO!

Hello crafty folks! can you believe it, only 100 days to go!
Tonight I made a cute little dolly

I made this one (below) earlier in the year,
and I decided to make a few more in different colours (I thought they might be another good addition to my christmas stall)
 production line
the longest part is hand sewing the eyes and mouth
right sides together, stitch on the machine, leave one small hole and turn it inside out, stuff with stuffing
(she looks funny with no hair)
now for the hair and the bow
I am off to bed, now 12.39am, need to get up early for a big craft day tomorrow
I have a photoshoot with the local paper to talk about my upcoming craft workshops, yay!

Day 264-scrap to scarf

Last week when I was visiting resource rescue I picked a pile of fabric swatch samples, beautiful fashion prints and detailed textures. The only problem is most of the swatches are small pieces, so now I need to think up lots of projects using small pieces... any suggestions are welcome!

a pile of swatches
Ive decided to use this piece today
overlocking it, right sides together, length-wise, then turning it back out the right way
then overlocking the ends together, right sides together again
and I am left with a little hole for hand stitching (I hate that last little section! is there a better way to do this? any advice?)
 once around
 twice around

 how about the headband-scarf combo?
hello sailor!

Day 262-paper bird garland

Today I spent the day in bed with a headache, so tonight's craft is just a quick one.
Remember a while back I cut out a paper heart garland and stitched it on the machine to a piece of ribbon??
well i have made another of these, expect this time with birds...

sketch your birdy

cut out in a variety of colours (x2 for each so you can sew them together and then fold them apart)

 a close up
stitch down the middle of the ribbon and then fold open
the birdy's and the heart's,
an easy an fun craft to do with kids or friends
and look great to brighten up kids rooms (or yours...)
